Discover nature, history and special experiences

The region around the DiemelLodge combines impressive nature, historic buildings and cultural highlights to create a unique experience. Between rolling hills, clear lakes and dense forests, there are numerous sights that reflect the beauty and diversity of the Sauerland.

Visitors can expect a harmonious mix of nature experiences and cultural discoveries: historic buildings such as the imposing Diemel dam, the Romanesque St. Barbara’s Church or the former Benedictine monastery in Flechtdorf tell of the region’s rich history. At the same time, natural wonders such as the Diemelsee and the surrounding nature park invite you to explore – whether on leisurely walks, extended hikes or relaxed excursions to the water.

Diemel dam and Diemelsee lake

The impressive dam wall of the Diemel dam is one of the most important structures in the region. It dams up the Diemel to form the Diemelsee, one of the clearest lakes in the Sauerland. Around the lake, hiking trails, bathing beaches and boat rentals invite you to spend relaxing or active hours in the midst of untouched nature.
